Children & Youth Ministry

The purpose of the Family Ministry Intern Program is to develop disciples of Christ into effective witnesses in the world through intellectual, spiritual, and vocational growth that equips them for fruitful ministry as well as to provide a means of employment and growth for young adult disciples of Christ that leads to maturity in their faith.

This position will be a part-time summer internship averaging 29 hours per week, flexing up to 40 hours per week during trip weeks. Each standard week will include vocational formation through various projects, tasks, meetings, and facilitation of ministry events. 
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
  • High school graduate as of June 2026
  • A desire to work with youth & children
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Familiarity with computer technology; willingness to learn Canva and Planning Center
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Safe Gatherings training is required (to be provided after employment)
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
  • Serve with the Director of Student Ministry & the Director of Children's Ministry to reach youth, children, and their families for Christ and connect them to the church
  • Assist in the design and communication initiatives through Canva and social media
  • Other duties as assigned
WORK HOURS AND BENEFITS
  • The standard work week without a special event will be Sunday through Thursday.
  • The expected work week of a FUMC Family Ministry Summer Intern is an average of about 40 hours of scheduled work throughout the summer, with the ability to flex up to 16 hour workdays during overnight events and 10 hour workdays on travel days.
  • 16 hours of time off during the summer, if the time does not interfere with special events such as a trip, community event, or special ministry event.
