The Children’s Ministry Director will focus on making disciples, assuring children are introduced to the love, forgiveness, and life-giving grace found in Christ Jesus. The Director will lead programming that nurtures and grows children’s faith in Jesus. This person will work as part of the church staff to strategically fulfill the mission and vision of FUMC Boerne.

REPORTS TO
The Children’s Ministry Director reports to one of our Associate Pastors.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
  • Recruits, leads, trains, and supports a team of volunteers to accomplish this ministry
  • Has oversight of all ministry and events from birth through fifth grade (Nursery, Sunday School, Family Music, VBS, Trunk or Treat, Special Needs Bingo, etc.), except for our preschool
  • Coordinates strategy to both reach and connect new children and their families into the life of the church
  • Cares for our children and their families by providing United Methodist theology-centered resources and teaching to enhance their spiritual growth
  • Builds and sustains relationships in the community with people and organizations that work with children and their families
WORK HOURS AND BENEFITS
This is a part-time position, approximately 28 hours per week with no benefits expressed or implied.  Work hours are semi-flexible (based on the scheduling of programming) and will be approved by the position’s supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, early childhood education emphasis preferred
  • Possess an understanding of child development and evidence of active and growing discipleship
  • Understanding of United Methodist polity and theology, or the willingness to learn
  • A minimum of two years working in Children’s ministry
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Skilled in utilizing Microsoft 365 and its suite of programs
  • Able to lift 30 pounds
  • Can easily get up and off the floor
  • Certified in CPR and First Aid (or be willing to become certified)
